Hi! My name is Max Russell and I am here in Melbourne on my study abroad year from London. I study Political Science and International Relations at the University of Birmingham and have a keen interest in international diplomacy, a field which goes hand in hand with my passion for travel.

Here is a photo of me at the top of Wine Glass Bay in Tasmania, one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done!

Why I love to travel

I am fascinated by travel, as not knowing what your next adventure will hold or who you will meet along the way. I love taking the chance to explore the world, as I believe in a shared assimilation of all cultures and creeds where everyone can learn and grow from each others differing perspectives. This sentiment is summed up perfectly by fellow blogger Pico Iyer, who describes travelling as:

“the sovereign freedom of traveling comes from the fact that it whirls you around and turns you upside down, and stands everything you took for granted on its head. ”

I agree with this statement, as travelling really is non stop and is a constant whirlwind of both one’s emotions and senses.

You never know what travelling will bring you next
Travelling is like a whirlwind

Country of Specialisation – Ireland

I have chosen Ireland as the case study for this blog post as I am fascinated by its rich history and culture as well as its stunning natural beauty. Having never travelled to Ireland myself, I am keen to find out more about it as it already has a large influence on my life, whether it be drinking Guinness in a pub or listening to Irish music. This blog will focus on sport, music and culture, as well as the spread of Irish influence across the globe.
